As individuals are increasingly aware of the meaning of true health, today’s modern medical model often leaves great gaps in prevention and treatment of disease.
The integrative, holistic and functional medical model is quickly coming to the forefront of individuals’ self-care and health care programs. No longer does an informed public seek a pill to cure their ills; but rather looks at diet, lifestyle and alternative healing modalities.
The Inner Space and Hoot Owl Attic Bookstore in Sandy Springs will host their Fall Into Wellness event Nov. 12 from noon to 6:30 p.m. The event is focused on awareness and the availability of alternatives to that of taking an aspirin for a headache or a prescription drug for a chronic illness. The attendees will be introduced to holistic practices including such modalities as Reiki (energy healing), massage, reflexology, vegetarianism, yoga, hypnotherapy, meditation and Qi-Gong to name a few.
Sherry Henderson, owner of The Inner Space, has hosted and promoted this kind of event annually and now, semi-annually for more than 20 years.
“It’s important that the greater Atlanta community be able to find holistic practitioners and be able to try out their services in an environment that offers a variety of choices and an affordable price,” Henderson said in a news release. “The holistic health fair allows a person to try as many as a dozen services for as less than the price of a single massage in the practitioner’s studio.
“It’s a win/win; holistic practitioners meet new potential clients and the attendees have a fun day of self-care, that’s packed with an array of informative subjects – for as little as $10 for a 20-minute session. Sandy Springs has long been the Mecca of holistic health practitioners in the Atlanta area, and what better place to center this event?”
The Inner Space is located at 6558 Vernon Woods Drive. Admission is $20 and includes all talks and exhibits plus one modality, valued at $10. Additional services may be purchased for $10 each. Organic popcorn, food and drinks will be available for purchase onsite. Service providers will have a 30-minute time slot to give a short presentation to attendees.
